After falling in extras on Friday, the Toronto Blue Jays recalled RHP Ty Tice from triple-A Buffalo while activating INF Joe Panik (left calf strain) and RHP Anthony Castro (right forearm strain) off of the 10-day injured list.

Kicking off a series of corresponding roster moves, INF/OF Cavan Biggio was placed on the 10-day injured list with a cervical spine ligament sprain while both LHP Anthony Kay and RHP Jeremy Beasley were optioned to triple-A Buffalo.

Through four games with the Blue Jays in 2021, Tice has allowed four earned runs on nine hits, walking four and striking out six of the 34 batters he has faced. In 114 minor league appearances dating back to 2017, the 24-year-old product of Prarie Grove, Ariz., owns a cumulative ERA of 2.07.

Appearing in 19 MLB games prior to being shut down on May 5, Panik has slashed .226/.241/.302 with four RBI. Four of the veteran infielder's 12 hits in 2021 have gone for extras.

Castro rejoins the club having recorded 7 1/3 innings of scoreless ball with the big club this season. The 26-year-old has struck out nine of the 27 big league batters he has faced on the year, allowing just three hits while walking only one batter.

In 39 games, Cavan Biggio has slashed .205/.315/.315 with three home runs and 14 runs scored. Despite Panik's return, the Blue Jays still have 11 would-be contributors shelved with injuries.

Both Kay (6.62 ERA) and Beasely (9.64 ERA) appeared in last night's loss, allowing a combined six runs (five earned) with six walks and five strikeouts in five innings of work.
