TORONTO - The Toronto Blue Jays added a familiar arm on Monday, signing RHP Luis Santos to a minor league pact that comes with an invite to spring training.

Santos, 26, has spent the last three seasons in the Blue Jays' system and owns an overall minor league ERA of 3.64 through 598 innings since joining the Pittsburgh Pirates' organization as a 20-year-old international free agent in 2011.

In 2017, the 6-foot product of Bonao, D.R. went 3-12 over 24 appearances with triple-A Buffalo and earned his first major league call-up when rosters expanded in September.

Through 10 games with the Blue Jays (16 2/3 IP), Santos recorded an ERA of 2.75 while striking out 16 and walking only four batters. Of the five earned runs he was charged with, four came via the home run. 

Outrighted off the 40-man roster in November, it's likely that Santos will begin the 2017 campaign back in Buffalo where he will pitch out of the rotation in an attempt find his way back on to a big league roster.
