Completing what became the Blue Jays' 10th roster transaction since Monday, INF/ DH Rowdy Tellez claimed INF Joe Panik's spot on the club's active roster ahead of the club’s three-game set against the Houston Astros on Friday.

Panik (left calf strain) lands on the 10-day Injured list after slashing .226/.241/.302 in 19 games with Toronto this season.

Optioned to clear a spot for George Springer on April 28, Tellez rejoins the club after appearing in two games with triple-A Buffalo (Trenton) and going 3-for-10 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

In 18 games with the Blue Jays prior to being optioned, Tellez had 11 hits in 60 at-bats, striking out 15 times and drawing a pair of walks. Those totals include a stretch that saw the 26-year-old hit .286 with three extra-base hits over his last 10 games prior to being sent down.

Panik is now the 11th player on Toronto's current IL. Combined, the team has lost 264 man-games to injury entering Friday night's action, 208 of which have come from the team's pitching staff.
