Blue Jays sign Bard to minor league deal

The Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to terms with RHP Luke Bard on a minor league contract with an invite to 2023 major league spring training.

Bard, 32, appeared in nine major league games while pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees last season, combining for a 1.80 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP across 15 innings. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound righty was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the first round of the 2012 draft and made his debut with the Los Angeles Angels in 2018. The native of Charlotte, N.C., has pitched in parts of four MLB seasons, going 4-4 with a 4.44 ERA.

Additionally, the Blue Jays have invited internal non-roster C Jamie Ritchie to 2023 Major League Spring Training.
