Blue Jays deal Kiner-Falefa to Pirates

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired 3B Charles McAdoo from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for UTIL Isiah Kiner-Falefa and cash considerations.

McAdoo, 22, has split the 2024 campaign between High-A Greensboro and double-A Altoona, appearing in 87 games while hitting .315 with 21 doubles, five triples, 14 home runs, 63 RBIs, 17 stolen bases, a .538 SLG and a .932 OPS. The right-handed hitter was selected by the Pirates in the 13th round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft out of San Jose State University. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound native of Walnut Creek, CA, has hit .312 over 115 career Minor League contests, recording 24 doubles, six triples, 19 home runs, 87 RBIs, 57 walks, and a .930 OPS.

Kiner-Falefa, 29, has suited up for 82 games in his first season with the Blue Jays this year, batting a career-best .292 with 17 extra-base hits and 33 RBIs for a career-high .758 OPS. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound utilityman was selected by the Rangers in the fourth round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft, eventually making his big-league debut for the team in 2018. The Honolulu, Hawaii, native has played 731 career MLB games between the Rangers, Yankees, and Blue Jays hitting .264 with 99 doubles, 12 triples, 33 home runs, and 236 RBIs, while winning a Gold Glove at third base for Texas in 2020.

Blue Jays deal Richards to Twins

The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired UTIL Jay Harry from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for RHP Trevor Richards.

Harry, 22, has appeared in 82 games for High-A Cedar Rapids this season, hitting .214 with 23 extra-base hits and 39 RBIs. The left-handed hitter was selected by the Twins in the sixth round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft out of Penn State University. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound native of New Brunswick, N.J., has hit .248 over 112 career minor league contests, recording 23 doubles, two triples, nine home runs, and 49 RBIs for a .722 OPS.

Richards, 31, has appeared in 45 games (two starts) for the Blue Jays this season, going 2-1 with a 4.64 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and a .189 opponent batting average. The Aviston, Ill., native was signed by the Marlins as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and made his MLB debut with the club in 2018. The right-handed reliever has suited up for 280 career MLB games between the Marlins, Rays, Brewers, and Blue Jays, posting a 24-27 record and a 4.51 ERA with 598 strikeouts across 547 innings of work.

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired outfielder Kevin Kiermaier from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for left-handed pitcher Ryan Yarbrough.

Kiermaier, 34, was hitting .195 with four homers and 18 RBIs in 81 games for the Blue Jays. The four-time Rawlings Gold Glover has been in the major leagues parts of 12 seasons with Tampa Bay (2013-22) and Toronto (2023-24), hitting .246 with 94 homers and 370 RBIs in 1,124 games. He was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 31st round of the 2010 First Year Player Draft out of Parkland College.

Yarbrough, 32, was designated for assignment yesterday by the Dodgers after they acquired infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario. He was 4-2 with a 3.74 ERA in 32 games for the Dodgers. In seven major league seasons with Tampa Bay (2018-22), Kansas City (2023) and Los Angeles (2023-24) he was 52-40 with a 4.30 ERA in 184 games (68 starts). He was acquired by the Dodgers last season on August 1 from Kansas City in exchange for minor leaguers Devin Mann and Derlin Figueroa.
