We’ve hit double digit BMOC’s, which is roughly the halfway mark of the college baseball season.

Time sure flies when you’re having fun.

On that note, let’s take a look at the best Canadian performances from the past seven days.

Gillespie masterful against Memphis

No surprise here, right-hander Blake Gillespie (Lucan, Ont.) pitched well again for the University of North Carolina Charlotte. This time, it was Memphis hitters he dominated over eight innings. Gillespie surrendered one run on five hits and struck out 11 to even his record to 3-3 in a 7-1 Game 1 win.

Crowell with two-homer game

Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, NS) hit a two-run and three-run home run to power Reinhardt to a 16-4 Game 1 victory over Indiana Southeast. He finished the game with three hits. In a Game 2 win, he had a hit.

Husband holds off opposing hitters

Keaton Husband (Weyburn, Sask.) spun a seven-inning complete game for Minnesota West Community and Technical College as they downed Minnesota North College-Vermilion, 7-2. Husband worked around four hits and five walks, while punching out four.

Carbno collects five hits, Gabruck goes 5-for-5

Jason Carbno (Saskatoon, Sask.) had five hits, three stolen bases and three RBIs in three games for Williston State. One of his hits was a home run during a 13-11 Game 3 win over Lake Region State.

There was no time being wasted by Kleysen Gabruck (Martensville, Ont.) as he went 5-for-5 with three RBIs and a stolen base to open the week for the Teton in a 12-10 Game 1 win over Lake Region State. The three games that followed saw him chip in a hit, two walks and a stolen base.

Crowson hits home run No. 11

There’s been plenty of power provided for the University of Montevallo off the bat of Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.). The former Okotoks Dawg hit his 11th home run of the season against Lee, a solo shot, in a 7-5 Game 2 loss. Earlier in the week, he went 4-for-5 with an RBI in a win over Emmanuel. Crowson leads the Falcons in average (.410) and in home runs.

Etobicoke Rangers grad Bennett Rogers (Toronto, Ont.) struck out 13 batters and allowed just one run while tossing a seven-inning complete game to lead the University of Indianapolis to a win over Missouri S&T. Photo: University of Indianapolis Athletics

Rogers tosses complete game

Bennett Rogers (Toronto, Ont.) threw a seven-inning complete game, yielding one run on five hits and a pair of walks as the University of Indianapolis beat Missouri S&T 5-1. He fanned 13.

Smith pitches into the seventh

Right-hander Garret Smith (Coaldale, Alta.) threw 6 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on six hits as Siena Heights defeated Michigan-Dearborn 4-3 in 10 innings. Smith tiptoed around five walks and struck out seven.

Morrison makes an impact

Indiana Tech’s Ben Morrison (Denfield, Ont.) makes his way into the BMOC again. This time he had five hits, three walks, seven RBIs and was hit by a pitch. The highlight of his play was a 3-for-5 performance with a solo and two-run home run en route to six RBIs in a 15-4 win over Lawrence Tech.

Grant belts pair of three-run shots

With five wins over the past week, Bellevue University has now won eight of their last nine. Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alta.) contributed six hits, three walks and eight RBIs. He hit a three-run home run in a midweek win over York before doing it again during Game 1 of the Bruins series against Valley City State.

Nova Scotia Selects grad Mitchell Doucette (Dartmouth, N.S.) had eight hits and nine RBIs in five games for the Sussex County Skylanders. Photo: Sussex County Athletics

Doucette drives in nine

Mitchell Doucette (Dartmouth, NS) of the Sussex County Skylanders drove in nine runs and had eight hits over five games. One of his hits was a home run. He also walked once and stole a base.

Valley City State’s Kaden Rozdeba (Strathclaire, Man.) went 4-for-5 with a three-run home run and four RBIs to close out his week in a loss to Bellevue. In the three games prior, he had a hit and was hit by a pitch.

Jacklin homers twice

Blake Jacklin (St. Jacobs, Ont.) hit solo home runs in an East Tennessee State win over Old Dominion and a Game 1 loss to USC Upstate. He finished with seven hits, five walks and four RBIs in four games.

Pimentel-Guerrero producing for Hornets

Luis Pimentel-Guerrero (Burlington, Ont.) had eight hits, two walks, four RBIs and was hit by a pitch for Sacramento State. He swatted a two-run home run in a Game 1 win over Tarleton State but his best game came in a Game 2 loss when he went 4-for-4.

Jimmy Dionne (Quebec, Que.) hit home runs No. 11 and 12 in Howard College’s Game 4 loss to Amarillo College. In total, Dionne had five hits, a walk and five RBIs in the series.

Clark continues strong play

Infielder Michael Clark (Cranbrook, BC) is putting together a stellar season at Northeastern Junior College. He continued it last week with seven hits, a walk and seven RBIs. In a 20-12 Plainsmen win over Lamar, he hit a home run. Clark is now hitting .417 on the campaign.

Nicoll helps Muleriders win three of four

The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders took three of their four games, including downing No. 14 Delta State, to improve to 21-12. Brandon Nicoll (Coombs, BC) went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a stolen base in that victory over Delta State before producing two hits, a walk and two RBIs in a three-game series against Henderson State.

Evans ends week with 12 hits

Matthew Evans (Tillsonburg, Ont.) played a major role in Cloud County Community College’s offence, collecting 12 hits and driving in eight. Two of those hits were home runs and he was also hit by a pitch. In the T-Birds finale of a four-game set against Seward County, Evans finished a home run shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs.

And just like that, the final weekend of March is in the rearview mirror.

Check back in seven days to see who stood out on the college baseball scene as the calendar flips to April.
