Where has the time gone?

It seems like just yesterday the first pitch of the college season was thrown, but here we stand heading into the end of April. Early season optimism is turning into late season urgency as many teams enter the final stretch. Some with just a few weekends remaining.

As the pressure mounts, Canadians continue to shine. Let’s take a look at the best performances from April 11 to 17.

Coutney the Conference USA Player of the Week

Matt Coutney (Wetaskawin, Alta.) was on a tear last week for Old Dominion. It started in a 9-2 win over No. 8 Virginia when Coutney went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and four RBIs. Next he tore through the University of Alabama at Birmingham pitching staff, starting with a 2-for-5 game with a solo home run and a three-run shot in a 13-2 Game 1 win. In Game 2, he was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk a 9-5 win. To close out the series, he went 2-for-4 with another two-run home run. That’s five home runs in four games for those keeping track.

His power surge landed him Conference USA Player of the Week honours. But that wasn’t all. He was later named the Dick Howser Trophy National Player of the Week as announced by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

He’s also the Canadian Baseball Network Player of the Week.

Williams ASUN’s Player of the Week

Lipscomb’s Malik Williams (Toronto, Ont.) continued his strong campaign with eight hits, four walks and eight RBIs in four games for Lispcomb. The Ontario Blue Jays grad hit a solo home run in the series opener against North Alabama, which ended in an 11-7 win. During the finale, he swatted a two-run home run to break a 7-7 tie in the top of the 10th inning in a 10-7 win.

He was named the ASUN Conference Player of the Week.

Grant named MAAC Player of the Week

Max Grant (Fredericton, N.B.) of the Canisius Golden Griffins started the week with a hit and a walk in an 11-1 midweek victory over St. Bonaventure. In Game 1 of their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series against Marist, he went 4-for-6 with two home runs and four RBIs. He touched up the Marist pitching staff for four more hits, another two-run home run, and four RBIs in an 18-17 Game 2 win. During the finale, an 11-3 win, he was 2-for-5 with three RBIs.

The performance landed him recognition as the MAAC Player of the Week.

Another Player of the Week

Tasked with starting the offence out of the leadoff spot doesn’t seem to bother Jonah Weisner (Mission, BC). Just look at his production last week for No. 17 Ottawa University as an example. He had eight hits, two walks, seven RBIs, stole a base and was hit by a pitch in four games. One of his hits left the yard in a 7-3 win over Avila.

His play garnered him Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Hunt hammers two-run home run to enter record books

During Oklahoma Panhandle State’s three-game series with Wayland Baptist, Ethan Hunt (Elginburg, Ont.) pounded out four hits, including a two-run home run in a 7-6 Game 1 win. The home run was his 12th of the season which sets the OPSU single-season record. To go along with the hits, he also walked three times, drove in three and swiped a pair if bases.

Hunt earned himself another Aggie of the Week honour in the process.

Bomersback named Player of the Week

Matthew Bomersback (Montreal, Que.) was named the Mon-Dak Conference Player of the Week late last week for his complete game shutout against Bismarck State on April 9.

UBC beats D1 Seattle, split with Bushnell

For the second time this season, the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds defeated a Division I team. On February 22, they took down Sacramento State 4-3, and last Tuesday they beat the University of Seattle 8-5. Then to close out the week they split a four-game set with Bushnell.

The offensive charge was led by Brett Corbeth (London, Ont.), Mitchell Middlemiss (Chilliwack, BC) and Noah Or (Vancouver, BC).

Corbeth was in the lineup in games 2 and 4 against Bushnell, putting together four hits, driving in three and stealing a base. He launched a two-run home run in a 5-2 win in the finale to secure the series split.

Middlemiss had three hits and an RBI. Two of his hits and the RBI came against Seattle.

Or played in all five games, accumulating nine knocks, five walks, four RBIs and and a stolen base.

On the mound, Corbeth got the ball and picked up his first win of the season in the 5-2 Game 4 victory. He allowed two runs on four hits over seven innings. The former Great Lake Canadian worked around five walks and struck out six.

Things were looking good for the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds in Game 2 of their series with Bushnell. Branden Woods (Red Deer, Alta.) tossed seven innings and surrendered two runs on six hits with a pair of walks and six strikeouts. But Bushnell pushed across three in the bottom of the ninth for a 5-4 win.

Ryan Beitel (Surrey, BC) surrendered one run on three hits over five innings of work in Game 3. He issued a pair of walks and struck out seven in the 4-3, 12-inning loss.

Crompton K’s eight

Cooper Crompton (Langley, BC) tossed five scoreless innings in Iowa Western’s 3-0 Game 1 win over Iowa Central. He allowed two hits, walked one and punched out eight to earn his second win for the Reivers.

Brown helps Frontier outlast Lincoln Train

Matt Brown (Oakville, Ont.) makes his way back into the BMOC after a strong performance for the Frontier Bobcats in Game 2 of their series with Lincoln Trail. Brown surrendered four runs (two earned) on three hits over six innings in a 7-6 victory. He issued three walks and struck out six.

Douglas with scoreless relief

Ask any pitching coach what they want out of their relievers, and at some point they will say “strikes.” Jacob Douglas (Georgetown, Ont.) steadied the ship for Fort Hays State in Game 1 against Missouri Western after their starter was hit around for seven runs over four innings. Douglas spun five scoreless innings of relief and the Tigers put up six straight runs for an 8-7 win. The Canuck scattered three hits and struck out three. And oh yeah, about those strikes, he didn’t walk a batter in the outing.

Gollert starts Game 2 for Govs

Harley Gollert (Toronto, Ont.) lasted five innings and gave up one run on four hits for the Austin Peay Governors versus Eastern Illinois. The former Ontario Blue Jays southpaw walked three and punched out five.

Wolverines win big over rival

The Michigan Wolverines put up 18 runs on in-state rival Michigan State as they cruised to victory. On the mound, it was lefty Connor O’Halloran (Mississauga, Ont.) who held the Spartans to two runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win. He worked around five walks and struck out eight for his fourth win in the 18-6 decision.

Goodall gets Eagles back in series

Garrett Goodall (Nanaimo, BC) got the ball in Game 2 of Embry-Riddle’s series with Florida Tech after the Eagles dropped Game 1. The right-hander tiptoed his way around nine hits and four runs (three earned) to throw seven innings. He walked one and struck out one as his team held on to a 7-6 win.

Senden goes six for win

Six strong innings on the mound from Adam Senden (Winnipeg, Man.) helped Mayville State dump Viterbo 4-2. Senden scattered six hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out six.

MacLean evens record at 2-2

Tanner MacLean (Charlottetown, P.E.I.) secured his second win of the season with five innings of work for Sullivan County in their 4-2 Game 1 win over Rockland. MacLean yielded three hits and struck out four to move to 2-2.

Irvine holds Butte to two

Lassen’s Connor Irvine (Victoria, BC) conceded two runs over six innings as the Cougars squeaked by Butte 5-4 in Game 1 of their series. He allowed four hits and punched out seven in the process.

Jalbert holds strong

Samuel Jalbert (Mascouche, Que.) fought some control issues, walking five, but managed to last five innings in St. Joseph’s (ME) 3-1 victory over Anna Maria. He gave up one run on four hits and struck out five.

Gagnon comes out of pen as Tarleton State beats St. Thomas

Long relief, five scoreless innings to be exact, was what Zach Gagnon (Sainte-Julie, Que.) provided Tarleton State in their 6-5 Game 1 win over St. Thomas. Gagnon allowed two hits and struck out two during the appearance.

Niagara wins first series of 2022

The 2022 season hasn’t been kind to the Niagara Purple Eagles but they showed signs of turning the corner last week. They picked up a midweek win over Youngstown State before taking two of three from Rider for a critical Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series win. Canadians were contributing all over the field for the Purple Eagles.

Blake MacMillan (Mississauga, Ont.) got the start in the rubber-match against Rider and delivered five innings of two-run baseball in an 11-3 win. He scattered seven hits and struck out six.

Josh Marchese (Burnaby, BC) swatted a solo home run in the midweek win and in a 7-1 Game 1 loss to Rider. He finished the four games with six hits, two walks and three RBIs.

Spencer Marcus (Chatham, Ont.) did his damage in the second and third games against Rider. He totaled four hits, two in each game, and stole a base in the second.

Griffs take three of four

Kyle Kush (Guelph, Ont.) and Josh Niles (St. Thomas, Ont.) also played critical roles in Canisius’ four games last week.

Kush collected six hits, five walks, five RBIs and a pair of hit by pitches.

Niles amassed five hits, a walk, an RBI and was hit by two pitches.

Canadians come through for Niagara County Community College

Three Canadians fueled the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves to a 6-0 week.

Carter Arbuthnot (Oshawa, Ont.) had two, three-hit games and nine hits in all over five games played. He drove in six and swiped a pair of bases.

Matthew Ferris (Vaughan, Ont.) played in four games, collecting five hits, walking twice and driving in four. He went 3-for-4 with two RBIs in a 12-4 win over Monroe.

Chris Tani (Oakville, Ont.) contributed six hits, six RBIs and seven walks.

Yusypchuk goes into the eighth

Andrew Yusypchuk (St. Albert, Alta.) lasted 8 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on five hits in Chandler-Gilbert’s 8-6 win over GateWay. He walked one and punched out nine.

Wakelyn works six

University of Mary righty Parker Wakelyn (Abbotsford, BC) gave up one run on five hits over six innings of work in a 6-5 Game 3 win over Minnesota Duluth. He issued four walks and struck out three to move to 4-1.

Wesseling pitches Monroe to win

Hayden Wesseling (Guelph, Ont.) threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings to help Monroe beat Finger Lakes 4-0. He allowed one hit, walked two and struck out four.

Canadian Beavers bash for Minot State

Canadian Beavers performed well last week. Declan Buckle (Corner Brook, Nfld.), Kaiden Cardoso (Abbotsford, BC) and Blake Gallagher (Fredericton, N.B.) stirred the offensive drink for Minot State.

Buckle had seven hits, walked twice and drove in six in four games. He hit a two-run home run to open the week in a 21-2 win over Concordia-St. Paul.

Cardoso chipped in eight hits, three walks and nine RBIs. His big blast game in an 11-7 loss to Northern State when he hit a grand slam.

Gallagher meanwhile put up five hits, four walks and five RBIs. He, too, hit a home run, a three-run shot in the 21-2 win.

Tough loss for Geekie

Throwing 8 2/3 innings and giving up two runs wasn’t enough for Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.) and the Emporia State Hornets. Geekie yielded three hits, walked two and struck out 10 in a 2-1 Game 3 loss to Washburn. A run in the ninth handed Geekie and the Hornets the loss.

Johnston goes the distance for Comets

Matthew Johnston (Cypress River, Man.) threw all seven innings in Mayville State’s 8-1 victory over Viterbo. He allowed the one run on five hits, with a walk and six strikeouts.

Cazorla, Crowson drive Cavaliers offence

A pair of Canadians had fine week’s for the Bossier Parish Cavaliers.

Alejandro Cazorla (Okotoks, Alta.) came up with nine hits, three RBI, and a stolen base as the Cavs went 5-0.

Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) on the other hand had eight hits, two walks, six RBIs and a stolen base.

Stovman steady for Whitecaps

Michael Stovman (Maple Ridge, BC) conceded two runs on four hits over six innings in Galveston’s 9-7 Game 3 loss to San Jacinto-North. He walked two and struck out four.

Mount gets T-Birds back on track

After dropping the first two games of their series with Hutchinson, Cloud County was hoping Jack Mount (Val-des-Mont, Que.) could help right the ship. And he did just that. Mount worked 5 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on two hits, with four walks and six punch outs in a 4-2 Game 3 win. The Thunderbirds would go on to split the series.

Saldias steady on the mound

Nico Saldias (Ajax, Ont.) gave up one run over five innings for Saint Xavier in their 9-1 win over Trinity International. Saldias worked his way around five hits and a walk, while striking out 10.

Five scoreless from MacNeil

Former Ontario Terrier and current University of Charleston hurler Owen MacNeil (Georgetown, Ont.) shut down Davis & Elkins over five scoreless innings in a 6-1 Game 4 win. MacNeil surrendered three hits, walked one and struck out seven to pick up his third win of the campaign.

Sheasgreen starts week with four hits

Logan Sheasgreen (Miramichi, NB) kickstarted his week with a 4-for-4 performance with a home run and three RBIs in Cayuga’s Game 1 win over Hudson Valley. He then had four hits, three walks, four RBIs and a stolen base in the final three games. Cayuga swept the series.

Savoie steers Buffs

The No. 5 Division II team in the country, West Texas A&M, has had a Canadian at the top of their lineup all season long. Eddy Savoie (Saint-Eustache, Que.) stroked seven hits and was hit by a pitch in a 3-1 series win over Texas A&M International this past week.

George pitches, then goes deep

Nick George (Sarnia, Ont.) started Game 1 of William Penn’s series with Peru State and lasted five innings, surrendering three runs on four hits in a 4-0 loss. George walked one and struck out three. Not done being a factor in the series, he was in the lineup for the following three games. He hit a two-run home run and finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs in a 7-2 Game 2 win. In games 3 and 4, both losses, he had a hit.

Vulcano leads Colby to victories

Vauxhall Jet alum John Vulcano (Cloverdale, BC) was in the lineup in games 1, 3, and 4 of Colby’s series with Garden City. He collected seven hits and drove in three in the three games, all of which ended in Trojan wins.

Gardner impresses for Garden City

Will Gardner (St. Albert, Alta.) amassed nine hits, walked twice, and drove in one in five games for the Garden City Community College Broncbusters. Seven of those hits came in their series with Vulcano’s Trojans.

Boscarino bashes out five hits

A 3-for-4 game, including a home run, four RBIs and a stolen base from Luca Boscarino (Mississauga, Ont.) helped Connors State to a 10-5 win over TCS Postgrad. In two other games on the week, he had a hit and an RBI.

Cuesta’s Cumiskey has good week

Holden Cumiskey (Langley, BC) stockpiled six hits, a walk, nine RBIs and a stolen base in a 3-1 week for Cuesta.

Brazier with a pair of big days

No time was wasted by Tiffin’s Cal Brazier (Oshawa, Ont.) last week. Brazier went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, a walk and four RBIs in a 21-8 win over Travecca Nazarene in Game 1 of their series. For an encore, he pounded out a two-run home run, a solo home run and four hits in all in a 19-4 Game 2 win. He finished the game with four RBIs. In the third and fourth games, he had a pair of walks and two RBIs.

Bach hits homer

Jordan Bach (White Rock, BC) put up four hits, two RBIs, and a stolen base in three games for Saint Xavier. One of the hits was a two-run home run in a 9-1 win over Trinity International.

Sauve continues to hit

Coming off being named the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week, Trinidad State’s Benji Sauve (Mascouche, Que.) collected six more hits and two RBI last week in a three-game sweep of Luna.

Four hits for Cunningham

Caelan Cunningham (Port Dover, Ont.) had four hits, a walk and a RBI for Lourdes.

Zdunich shines in Top 25 matchup

Two top 25 teams took to the field for a three-game series and a Canadian played a key role in a pair of wins for his team. Tucker Zdunich (High River, Alta.) pounded out four hits - two of which were home runs - two walks and three RBIs as No. 24 Reinhardt took two of three from No. 2 Tennessee Wesleyan.

Villeneuve torches Vernon

Robin Villeneuve (Gatineau, Que.) had seven hits, a pair of walks and six RBIs in Weatherford’s four-game split with Vernon. He went 4-for-4 with a home run in the series’ first game. In Game 2, he hit another home run in a 12-2 win.

De Grandpre wins in relief

Arizona State commit Cedric De Grandpre (St. Simon, Que.) tossed five innings of relief to pick up the win in Chipola’s 4-3 win over Pensacola State. He allowed an unearned run on two hits, while walking three and punching out seven. His record now stands at 7-3.

Cardinals get offence, strong pitching from pair of Canadians

Justin Carinci (Ajax, Ont.) and Russell Derbyshire (Leamington, Ont.) were instrumental in Mineral Area’s series with Metropolitan.

Carinci piled up seven hits, worked a walk and drove in two.

Derbyshire started Game 2 and lasted five innings, giving up five runs (two earned) on four hits. He walked five and struck out two, eventually picking up his second win in a 6-5 decision.

The Cardinals split the series.

Lund levels record

Nine runs of offence was more than enough for Salem’s Jaryd Lund (London, Ont.). He surrendered one run on two hits over six innings to pick up the win over Virginia State in Game 4. The southpaw walked one and struck out eight to help the Tigers to a 9-1 victory and the series sweep.

Dykstra drives in five

The Patriots of George Mason University have a good one in catcher Connor Dykstra (Chilliwack, BC). He slapped six hits, walked, drove in five and stole a base in a 2-1 series win over St. Louis. Game 2 was his best, as he went 4-for-6 with four RBIs and a stolen base.

Glazer supplies offence in Post’s 2-2 week

Jordan Glazer (Cote-Saint-Luc, Que.) was on fire for Post. He had eight hits, five walks and six RBIs in four games. In a 14-3 win over Nyack he finished a home run shy of the cycle.

Boies saves best for last

It wasn’t that Emile Boies (Pointe-Levy, Que.) wasn’t good in Northeastern Oklahoma A&M’s first three games of the week, he was just really impressive in the fourth. Boies had a 5-for-6 game with three RBIs in a 16-10 Game 3 win over Seminole State (OK). And oh yeah, about those first three games, he combined to have five hits and four RBIs.

Karosas’ success leads to team success

The Erie Community College Kats used seven hits, two walks and three RBIs from AJ Karosas (Mississauga, Ont.) to help them to a 2-1-1 week. The Kats are now 23-10-1.

Wheeler’s offence aids Graceland’s series win

Austin Wheeler (Welland, Ont.) provided four hits, a walk and an RBI for Graceland in their 3-1 series victory over Mount Mercy.

Clapperton hits for UT Permian Basin

Leadoff hitter Michael Clapperton (Calgary, Alta.) collected six hits, three walks and five RBIs as UT Permian Basin took two and dropped two against St. Mary’s.

Columbus announces commitment, continues to hit

Catcher Ben Columbus (North Vancouver, BC) announced they he will head to the University of Nebraska once his time with Wharton County Junior College is over. Columbus showed why the Huskers coveted him in four games last week. He stroked seven hits, walked five times, drove in two and stole four bases.

Haywood pummels pitching

Mitchell Haywood (Pickering, Ont.) hammered out four hits, walked five times, and drove in a run in four games for CCBC Essex. His team took three of the four games.

Hendrix drops series but Marriott keeps hitting

As Hendrix College’s series with Millsaps wore on Zach Marriott (Oakville, Ont.) heated up. The infielder had a hit, a walk and a RBI in an 11-8 Game 1 loss. He was then 2-for-5 in a 6-5 Game 2 win, and went 3-for-4 on a 10-2 Game 3 loss.

Green goes off for Oakland

Thomas Green (Courtenay, BC) made a pair of Mid-American Conference opposing pitchers pay for their mistakes. He had a hit in a 21-8 loss to Central Michigan, before producing six hits, an RBI and a hit by pitch in a 2-1 series win over Northern Illinois.

Lussier a tough luck loser

You can’t pin Illinois State’s 2-1 Game 3 loss to Valparaiso on starter Jordan Lussier (Winnipeg, Man.). He provided six innings of work and allowed two runs on four hits with five strikeouts for the Redbirds.

Tanner tacks on offence

Dawson Tanner (Russell, Man.) had six hits, a walk and four RBIs in five games for South Suburban. He went 3-for-4 with a single, double, triple and RBI in a 10-0 victory over Olive-Harvey. The Bulldogs closed out the week with a 7-0 record.

Gatzke goes seven in loss

The pitching was good but the offence couldn’t push across any runs for Douglas College in their 4-0 Game 1 loss to Bellevue. Macallister Gatzke (West Vancouver, BC) was the starter and lasted seven innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits. He walked four and struck out one.

Hyrnkiw gets hot as McPherson wins 3-of-4

Tony Hyrnkiw (Brechin, Ont.) had four straight two-hit games for McPherson. Along with the eight hits, he drove in four as the Bulldogs went 3-1.

Savage steps up for Ventura

Freshman Andrew Savage (London, Ont.) supplied Ventura College with five hits, two walks, two RBIs and a stolen base to help them win two of their three games. He went 3-for-4 with a walk in a 12-9 win over LA Harbor.

Inouye does what leadoff men do

Adam Inouye (Vancouver, BC) was in the leadoff spot in all three of Academy of Art’s games against Westmont. In Game 1, he went 4-for-6 and in Game 2 he was 2-for-4 with a walk. Unfortunately his production wasn’t enough as his team was swept.

Taylor finishes with four hits

Rend Lake played three games against Lake Land (say that five times fast). Jack Taylor (Abbotsford, BC) collected four hits and drove in four for Rend Lake. During the finale, an 18-9 win, he was 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Billesberger completes junior season

The 2022 season is in the books for Brandon Billesberger (Cochrane, Alta.) and the Limestone University Saints. Billesberger was a bright spot for a team that finished 4-41. He led them with a .333 average. To put the lid on things, he had seven hits, a walk, two RBIs, three stolen bases and a hit by pitch in the final week of the season.

Johnson jolts Adrian College offence to life

Dylan Johnson (Etobicoke, Ont.) racked up six hits, a walk, two RBIs and a hit by pitch in Adrian College’s 2-2 week.

Espineli sparks Notre Dame College

Kyle Espineli (Toronto, Ont.) was a spark plug for Notre Dame College, collecting seven hits. Along with the hits, he walked once, drove in three and was hit by three pitches. He launched a solo home run in an 11-1 Game 1 win over Fairmont State.

Olson hits pair of two-run home runs, three in total

The power displayed by Kansas Wesleyan’s Zach Olson (Red Deer, Alta.) was impressive. Olson hit a two-run home run in a 13-5 win over Sterling. He hit another two-run blast in a 5-2 Game 1 loss to Saint Mary, before hitting a solo shot in a 3-2 Game 2 win. When the dust settled, he had eight hits and five RBIs in four games.

Machibroda caps week with 3-for-3 game

Nolan Machibroda (Saskatoon, Sask.) added five hits, four walks and six RBI to his season totals for Cumberland. He went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, two doubles, a walk, and two RBI in a 14-1 Game 3 win over Lindsey Wilson. The Phoenix swept the three-game series.

Farrell hit and walks his way on

Whatever it took to get on base, Devon Farrell (Saskatoon, Sask.) did it for Rockhurst. He reached by way of a hit seven times, by a walk twice, and he was hit by a pitch once. But Rockhurst dropped three of four to William Jewell.

Murchison with multi-hit games

Cole Murchison (Stouffville, Ont.) played in all three of West Valley’s games and had multiple hits in each. Murchison went 2-for-4 in a 4-2 win over Skyline. In the rematch, he went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and three RBIs in an 8-7 loss. And in the finale he was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Silvera has a strong eye

Some will tell you a hit is as good as a walk. Anthony Silvera (Alliston, Ont.) took that to heart by working six walks in six games for Clark State. He pounded out six hits, two RBIs and stole a base, as well.

Fabian strikes for five hits

Matt Fabian (Toronto, Ont.) was once again a factor for Ithaca College. He tagged opposing pitchers for five hits, five walks, four RBIs, a stolen base and two hit by pitches. He hit a two-run home run in a 12-4 Game 2 win over Rochester Institute of Technology.

Porcellato peppers the seats

Production from Matteo Porcellato (Pitt Meadows, BC) came in all forms this past week. Nine hits, six walks, eight RBIs and two stolen bases was what he finished with after six games for Marian. He hit a three-run shot in a 5-2 win over Huntington. Then he left the yard again for a two-run home run in an 8-5 Game 1 loss to Spring Arbor.

Leitch adds to home run total

Ryan Leitch (Whitby, Ont.) is proving that being named to the Buster Posey Award Watch List was no mistake. The former Toronto Mets backstop hit three home runs for Marshall. The first was a solo home run in a 10-3 win over Ohio. The next one was a two-run shot in a 10-9 Game 1 win over Louisiana Tech. Not satisfied, he hit another two-run home run in a 7-4 Game 2 loss. Over the course the four games, he put together eight hits, a walk and six RBIs.

McGarry-Doyle dents boxscores

You couldn’t miss noticing Noel McGarry-Doyle (Vaughan, Ont.) if you tried. He had seven hits, seven walks, nine RBIs and five stolen bases for Southeastern Community College. In a 27-9 win over Marshalltown, he hit a pair of home runs.

Barbosa thumps homer

Tyrone Barbosa (Kitchener, Ont.) collected five hits, one of which was a solo home run, for Lakeland Community College.

Allen, Suraganan make a difference for Marshalltown

A Canadian pitcher and position player played well for Marshalltown.

Liam Allen (St. Andrews, Man.) picked up his first win of the season by tossing a complete game, seven innings in a 12-1 Game 1 win over Southwestern Community College. Allen allowed the one run on four hits, while walking one and striking out six.

Suraganan added seven hits, four walks, seven RBIs and a stolen base. He hit a home run in a 27-9 loss to Southeastern Community College.

Adam hits, Hurford pitches

Max Adam (Montreal, Que.) and Dawson Hurford (Victoria, BC) stood out for Western Nebraska.

Offensively, Allen had five hits, two walks, two RBIs and a stolen base. He launched a home run in a 14-3 Game 3 win over Northeastern Junior College.

Hurford started Game 1 of their series with Northeaster and threw seven innings. He gave up three runs (two earned) on six hits with six strikeouts. It wasn’t enough though as they dropped the game 5-3.

Manias, Vasquez a dynamic duo for Howard

A pair of Ontario players, Aaron Manias (Uxbridge, Ont.) and Julio Vasquez (Cambridge, Ont.), supplied plenty of offence for the Howard College Hawks.

Manias provided 11 hits, seven RBIs and a stolen base. His biggest knock was a home run in a 33-7 victory over Clarendon in Game 2 of their series.

Vasquez put up five hits, a walk, six RBIs and two stolen bases in four games.

Fascia fitting right in at Southwestern

Alex Fascia (Brampton, Ont.) had five hits, three walks and four RBIs in four games for Southwestern Community College. He was 4-for-4 with a walk and four RBIs in a 13-5 Game 3 win over Marshalltown.
