It was a historic week for one player and program. Canadians continued to lead their teams into action and saw plenty of solid results. Below is a recap of the highlights from the week.
Windeler makes history
Lefty Niall Windeler (Toronto, Ont.) did something in The University of British Columbia’s 6-0 Game 1 win over Oregon Tech that has never been accomplished in the teams history. Windeler tossed a solo, nine inning no-hitter. He struck out 10 along the way to improve his record to 4-3. It was the fifth no-hitter in UBC’s history.
Another no-no
Hayden Jaco (Coquitlam, BC) threw a seven inning no-hitter as his Cameron Aggies downed Eastern New Mexico 11-0 in Game 3 of their series. Jaco punched out eight and picked up his first win of the season. Jaco also utilized his skill with the bat last week contributing a pair of three-hit games. He hit a three-run home run in a 17-7 Game 4 win over Eastern New Mexico. Jaco walked twice, had 10 RBIs and was hit by a pitch in the series. In his pair of three-hit games he also drove in four in each.
