Ontario Royals alum Ryan Magdic (Beamsville, Ont.) had three multi-hit games for Cochise College this past week and is now batting .489 in 12 games for the season.

The Division I baseball season kicks off this weekend but the rest of college baseball has been going strong for weeks. Canadians were all over the boxscores on the pitching and offensive side. Below is the weekly wrap of the top performances from the past week.

Magdic the man for Cochise

Cochise College easily disposed of El Paso Community College in a four game series. Not only did they sweep but they also outscored their opponents 28-1. RyanMagdic (Beamsville, Ont.) was right in the thick of the offensive production. In Game 2 he went 3-for-4 and then had two hits, including a home run and a walk, while driving in four in Game 3. In the finale he went 4-for-4 with a RBI. Cochise is off to an 11-1 start.

Brand collects two saves

The Skyhawks of Point University are 7-1 on the year and of those seven wins, Billy Brand (Burlington, Ont.) has saved four of them. Two more saves came last week in a pair of wins. Brand’s first save came when he tossed a scoreless 1/3 of an inning with a strikeout in a 7-5 win over Taccoa Falls College. After working a scoreless inning with another punch out in a 7-5 loss to Auburn University at Montgomery, he tossed two scoreless innings against AUM. Brand allowed a hit, walked two and struck out two for his fourth save in a 2-1 victory.

Brookman bashes baseball

Archer Brookman (Point Claire, Que.) had three hits in a pair of Seminole State (Okla.) wins over Grayson and Murray State. In the 12-4 win over Grayson, Brookman also walked and drove in three runs. One of his three hits in the 11-1 win over Murray State was a solo home run, one of two RBIs in the game. Brookman rounded out his week with a hit and another RBI in an 8-6 loss to Western Oklahoma State.

St. James A’s alum Ryan Johnson (Winnipeg, Man.) tossed a complete game shutout and struck out 12 for Lubbock Christian.

Ryan Johnson (Winnipeg, Man.) only needed one of the eleven runs of support he got against Cameron as he tossed a complete game shutout for Lubbock Christian. Cameron could only manage four hits against the lefty. Johnson walked just one a struck out 12 over his seven innings of work.

Graham ends week on a high

It was an impressive week for Brett Graham (Burlington, Ont.). The former Fieldhouse Pirate had seven hits in four games for Bryant and Stratton College. His best performance came in the final game of the week, a 6-0 win over Harford College. In that contest Graham had three hits, a RBI and stole a base.

Hofmann beats Lamar in opener, Olchoway wins Game 2

Logan Hofmann (Muenster, Sask.) worked four innings, allowing a run on one hit as the Colby Community College Trojans dropped Lamar 13-3 in five innings. Hofmann walked one and struck out seven to win his first game of the year. Ryan Olchoway (Saskatoon, Sask.) picked up the win in Game 2, a 4-0 decision. Olchoway threw three scoreless innings, allowing two hits, a pair of walks and struck out three.

Warken’s bat works for Erskine

Going to the plate was a lot of fun for Cole Warken (Regina, Sask.) last week. In a 7-6 Erskine victory over USC Aiken, Warken went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. He followed that up with a hit and a walk in Game 1 of their series with West Liberty, a 9-2 win. During Game 2 he went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Erskine completed the sweep with a 15-6 win behind a 4-for-5 game from Warken. He also drove in a run to close out his week.

Okotoks Dawgs Academy alum J.T. Patterson (Calgary, Alta.) was 4-for-9 (.444 batting average) for the Bellevue Bruins over the past week.

J.T. Patterson (Calgary, Alta.) went 4-for-9 with three RBIs for the Bellevue Bruins last week. The Bruins won Game 1, their season opener, before dropping the final three games.

Osborne goes off in Game 4

Through the first three games of the week Mitch Osborne (Lindsay, Ont.) collected just a hit and a walk for Western Nebraska College against Garden City. He found his stride in Game 4 as he went 3-for-4. Unfortunately for Osborne and WNCC, Garden City took all four games.

Rupnik stirs the drink

Paul Rupnik (Newmarket, Ont.) did what good leadoff hitters do for Newman College. Rupnik reached 14 times with six hits and eight walks on the week. He collected a multi-hit game in the final three matches. While on base, Rupnik also stole three bases.

Ontario Terriers alum Ryan O’Halloran (Mississauga, Ont.) had two multi-hit games for Orange Coast College.

After scoring a run in Orange Coast College’s first game of the week Ryan O’Halloran (Mississauga, Ont.) went 3-for-3 in Game 2 and 2-for-2 in Game 3 as OCC swept Long Beach. O’Halloran stroked two doubles and drove in two along the way.

Cappe takes the loss

Brady Cappe (Waterford, Ont.) lasted 5 2/3 innings and gave up five runs but just two were earned in a 5-2 University of Pikeville loss to Reinhardt. Cape scattered four hits, walked three and struck out four.

Wepf helps Pratt win series

After splitting the first two games of their series with Northeast Texas Community College, Pratt CC handed the ball to Lucas Wepf (Georgetown, Ont.). Wepf worked 4 1/3, giving up just one hit and two runs (one earned). He walked two and struck out six as Pratt picked up a 5-4 win in 11 innings.

Keyes keeps up strong play

Clayton Keyes (Calgary, Alta.) had four hits, walked three times, drove in two runs and stole a base for Central Arizona last week. The Vaqueros swept three games from Glendale Community College and beat Gateway 12-1 for a perfect 4-0 week.

ABC and Junior National Team alum Olivier Larocque (Quebec City, Que.) struck out eight in three scoreless innings for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

Olivier Larocque (Quebec, Que.) struck out eight of the nine outs he recorded on the way to three scoreless innings for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Larocque didn't allow a hit and walked three in the outing.

Dray, McKillican bright spots in tough week

It wasn't the opening week the University of British Columbia was hoping for as they were swept in a four-game series with National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics No. 25 Westmount College. In Game 1 Jordan Dray (White Rock, BC) went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and was hit by a pitch in a 7-6 loss. Game 2 went the way of Westmount by an 8-4 score despite three hits and a RBI from Dray. The Thunderbirds dropped Game 3 14-1 and Game 4 9-0. In the 9-0 defeat Dray walked and was hit by a pitch. Adam McKillican (Courtenay, BC) worked three scoreless innings as he started Game 2. He surrendered one hit and struck out two.

Gagnon helps Clarendon to series win

Zach Gagnon (Ste. Julie, Que.) allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits over five innings as Clarendon College dropped Rose State 6-5 to win the series 2-1. Gagnon allowed four hits, walked one and struck out three.

Liu with six hits in three-game set

He didn't get into the game until the ninth inning in Game 1 but Jonathan Liu (Mississauga, Ont.) was ready to go for Simpson University. Liu lead the Simpson University offence with a pair of hits and a stolen base in a six run ninth inning but it wasn't enough as Chico State scored a 10-8 win in the opener of their series. In Game 2, a 9-0 win, Liu went 3-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base. Chico State took the rubber match 6-1 but Liu did collect another hit.

Arruda beats Jarvis Christian

Nathan Arruda (Toronto, Ont.) scattered seven hits over five inning as the Tabor College Blue Jays downed Jarvis Christian 7-3. Arruda allowed three runs (two earned), walked one and struck out an impressive nine.

North Delta Blue Jays alum Malcolm Boehm (Ladner, BC) had two multi-hit games for Eastern New Mexico University.

Boehm beats up on Dallas Christian

Eastern New Mexico University played four games last week but it was two with Dallas Christian where Malcolm Boehm (Ladner, BC) really stood out. To open the week he went 3-for-4 with a walk and a RBI in a 7-4 win over Dallas Christian. After a hit in a 10-3 loss to Southwestern Christian, Boehm had two more hits and a stolen base to help his team to another wins over Dallas Christian.

William with the win

William Sierra (Montreal, Que.) worked three scoreless innings to collect the win in Yavapai’s 10-0 thumping of Phoenix. Sierra gave up a hit and worked around four walks in the win, he also struck out four.

Angel helps shutout Miami Dade

Four scoreless innings from Connor Angel (Lachine, Que.) propelled Northwest Florida State to a 10-0 win over Miami Dade. Angel allowed three hits while walking one and striking out one.

Mesa goes 4-0

Greg Student (Sexsmith, Alta.) went 4-for-7 with two walks and a RBI as Mesa Community College collected four wins on the week. Student legged out a triple in a 13-5 win over the Benedictine JV’s to open the week.

Babcock goes five

Two runs over five innings from Braden Babcock (Oshawa, Ont.) wasn't good enough as McCook Community College dropped a 5-0 loss to North Lake College. Babcock gave up three hits and walked four. He struck out two but took the loss.

Parker stymies Pearl River

Adam Parker (Scarborough, Ont.) went three scoreless innings of relief and didn't allow a hit for Jefferson College in their 5-3 win over Pearl River. He struck out one as his team won the front end of the Sunday doubleheader.

Savoie hits .500

It was a good week for Edouard Savoie (Ste, Eustache, Que.) with the bat. Savoie went 4-for-8 with three RBIs for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

Wilson named to preseason All-Conference team

Perfect Game released their preseason All-Mid America Conference team and it featured a familiar name. Junior outfielder Jake Wilson (New Lowell, Ont.) who hit .297 for Bowling Green State University last season received the recognition. Wilson had a .366 on-base percentage, a .324 slugging percentage and perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 2018.

Another week into the season and the list of top performances continues to grow. Division I players join the conversation this week. Make sure to check back as the season continues to pick up steam.
