Quebec’s Mr. Baseball

Wow! Martin Vincelli-Simard is in superb shape!

Vincelli-Simard (Sainte-Thérèse, Que.) hit another home run Monday night. He had already hit a long ball in the previous two games for the Sacramento State University Hornets.

Serving as the Hornets’ designated hitter, the former Junior National Team member belted a home run far over the centre field fence in the fourth inning. Vincelli-Simard’s drive was a two-run shot, allowing his team to tie the game 4-4 with the University of Pacific, a school that Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Ed Sprague used to coach.

Before slamming his home run, Vincelli-Simard had a walked in the second inning and later scored to give his team a 2-1 lead. He drew another walk in the sixth inning.

In the end, the Hornets won 8-5, with Vincelli-Simard finishing 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and two RBIs.
