The Oshawa Legionaires 18U Elite team head to Florida for spring training March 29-to-April 8 to prepare for their 2018 season.

The team, coached by Ken Babcock, will be training and competing at the Coastal Florida Sports Park Complex (former Cocoa Expo Baseball Complex) in Cocoa, Fla,

Meanwhilee, they are not the only team who will be checking in with customs officials.

The Ontario Blue Jays will head to historic Dodgertown in Vero Beach this spring. The motto at the former home of the Los Angeles Dodgers was: “If it is not moving ... paint it blue.”

The Jays are taking four teams south. The Ontario Blue Jays teams are coached by Mike Siena, Mike Steed, Taylor Bratton and Dino Roumel.

Teams headed south include the Ontario Terriers, the Etobicoke Rangers and the Brampton Royals to Florida, the Langley Blaze to Arizona and the Oshawa Legionnaires are taking four teams to Cuba.

The Terriers and coaches Dean Dicenzo, Scott VandeValk, Rick Johnston, John Milton and Greg O'Halloran are taking four teaams to St. Petersburgh.

Meanwhile, Denny Berni and his staff, which includes former Langley Blaze coach George Halim, is taking three teams -- the Etobicoke Rangers 16U, 17U and 18U -- south for spring training next month.

The Rangers are going to Fort Pierce, Fla. for sun, fun and hopefully zero sore arms.

The Royals under coach Frank Fascia, are taking one team to Florida this year at the 16U age grouping. Brampton is headed to St. Petersburg, playing its gaames at Baseball City which used to be known as the Walter Fuller Complex.

The Blaze are headed south to the spring training homes and some Junior Colleges campuses.

Besides the customary trips to major-league camps, Doug Mathieson and Jamie Bodaly's Blaze will also play the Seattle Marriners March 25 in the first annual Wayne Norton Memorial Game. Norton, the legendary Mariners scout, passed away earlier this year.
