Jaden Brown was the lone Canadian invited to the Perfect Game All-American Classic at Petco Park in San Diego.
The West Squad picked up the win in All-American Classic with a 4-2 victory over the East.
Brown (Mississauga, Ont.) of the Ontario Blue Jays was 0-for-2 playing for the West. Brown played second, while Bobby Witt, Jr., son of former Texas Rangers RHP Bobby Witt, was at shortstop.
Brown got his name on the board in the Home Run Challenge, finishing seventh with four. Rece Hinds won with 10 homers.
Perfect Game ranks Brown as the top Canuck heading into the 2019 draft saying:
Jaden Brown is a 2019 SS/2B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Mississauga, ON who attends St. Marcellinus S.S.. Physical and athletic build with present strength and plenty of room for more. 6.64 runner, has very quick feet and smooth footwork in the infield defensively, shows range in all directions and has feel for defense, gets rid of the ball very quickly and gets on top of throws with good carry, not exceptional raw arm strength but it plays up with all the other factors. Right handed hitter, has quick and explosive hands, line drive swing plane with present bat speed and plenty more to come, handles the barrel well, gap to gap power at present. Lots of projection here. Good student, verbal commitment to Kentucky. Selected to play in the 2018 Perfect Game All-American Classic.
Brown, who has committed to the University of Kentucky, also received 2018 Underclass First Team honours.
Perfect Game has Brown listed as the 25th best prospect in the top 500 high schoolers in North America.
Calgary Dawgs INF Cesar Valero (Calgary, Alta.) is next among the Canuck high schools ranked 193rd.
Third is Vauxhall Academy Jets LHP Adam Macko (Stoney Plain, Alta.) listed 462nd.
And fourth is LHP Keegan Pulford-Thorpe (Newmarket, Ont.) of the Toronto Mets, ranked 490th.
