Brownlee returns to IBL's London Majors for 12th season

The London Majors are happy to announce that they have re-signed Cleveland Brownlee, the fifth longest tenured player in franchise history, for the 2022 season.

Originally from Atlanta, Ga., Brownlee will play his 12th season with the club in 2022. The veteran slugger has become one of the most respected players among opponents, umpires and fans around the league.

With seven home runs with 21 RBIs in 27 games in 2021, he was a staple in the top half of the Majors’ lineup throughout their championship-winning season.

“Thank you for the opportunity to play for Roop and the 2021 Championship London Majors again,” said Brownlee. “My son said if I didn’t play then I wouldn’t be famous anymore. I look forward to keeping that promise to him, and to the fans. We are not done yet!”

Majors co-owner, manager and general manager Roop Chanderdat made sure that Cleveland was the first player to get the championship trophy after it was awarded to the Majors in October.

“I am looking forward to having Cleveland back for another season,” said Chanderdat. “We are very fortunate to have him on our team and on top of his baseball talents, he is a true ambassador for both the Majors and City of London.”

The London Majors are a member of the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world. It draws significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
