Brunner, Pearce help lead Dawgs to 18-7 win over Bombers

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Brooks Bombers 18-7 on Friday.

A strong pitching performance and a high-scoring fourth inning allowed the Dawgs to gain a significant lead that Brooks would not come back from.

The Dawgs now own a 27-8 record and remain first in the west division.

Graham Brunner (Sherwood Park, Alta.) earned the win and remains a perfect 6-0 on the season. The Dawgs’ All-Star pitched 4 2/3 innings while also registering six strikeouts. Relief efforts from Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.), Quinn Tocheniuk (Okotoks, Alta.), Sam Stuhr, Seth Thompson (Calgary, Alta.), and All-Star Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) helped secure the Dawgs victory..

The Dawgs offence was led by Alex Stufft who went 3-for-5 with a season-high four RBIs. All-Star infielder McCoy Pearce (Kamloops, B.C.) also made an impact in the contest, blasting his fourth homer of the season while going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Mason Guerra and Ricky Sanchez both contributed three RBIs in the contest as the Dawgs earned their third straight win.

The Dawgs will now travel to Sylvan Lake for a single road game before returning home to Seaman Stadium.
