Official Okotoks Dawgs News Release

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Sylvan Lake Gulls 10-2 on Friday night to earn their 18th victory of the season.

Strong pitching and offensive awareness were key in the Dawgs adding to their lead as the game progressed. The Dawgs remain atop the west division standings with a record of 18-5 and increase their lead over the Gulls who remain in second place.

Graham Brunner (Sherwood Park, Alta.) threw six innings, allowed four hits and finished with seven strikeouts, improving his record to 5-0 on the season.

Relief efforts from Rylan Penner, Connor Robbins and Bode Brooks backed the Dawgs’ ace.

The Dawgs’ offence was powered by Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.) who led the team with two hits and three RBIs. Alex Stufft drove in two while Jacob Morrow and Micah McDowell (Kentville, N.S.) found the hit column driving in one run each.

McDowell also had a major day on the basepaths, swiping four bases and scoring three runs.

The Dawgs will host the Edmonton Prospects this weekend at Seaman Stadium and play as the away team while the Prospects’ new ballpark nears completion.
