Day 1 of the Canada Games Baseball Competition in Winnipeg, Manitoba:

Québec 7 Saskatchewan 2 - Charles Lefebvre turned in three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win in a 7-2 comeback victory over Saskatchewan. New Brunswick 10 Newfoundland & Labrador 0 - Zach Newman allowed just two hits over 5 1/3 shutout innings while his offence had 11 hits as New Brunswick bested Newfoundland & Labrador, 10-0, in a mercy shortened game. Conner Huckins was the offensive star for New Brunswick as he drove in three with a 2-for-3 day at the plate.

Saskatchewan 3 Alberta 2 (8 innings) - An extra innings thriller saw Saskatchewan plate two runs in the top of the eighth and hold off a charging Alberta in the bottom half to come away with a 3-2 win. Starting pitchers Brendan Logan from Alberta and Saskatchewan’s Brody Frerichs were magnificent with Logan tossing seven scoreless innings while Frerichs allowed just one hit over 5.2 innings.

BC 8 Québec 5 - BC struck for four runs in the top of the fourth to erase a three-run deficit as they evened their record to 1-1 with an 8-5 win over previously unbeaten Québec. Québec's Jason Begin went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI in a losing cause.

Manitoba 11 Nova Scotia 1 - Noah Geekie provided 4 1/3 innings of solid starting pitching and drove in a pair of runs with a single as part of an eight-run fifth inning to lead host Manitoba to an 11-1 win over Nova Scotia at a packed Elwood Giants Field. Jared McCorrister and Tristan Peters both contributed two run doubles.
