IBIÚNA, Brazil – The Canadian Senior National Baseball Team will get an opportunity to defend their back-to-back (2011, 2015) Pan American Games gold medals after earning a spot in the Lima 2019 baseball competition following Colombia’s win over Panama on Wednesday at the Pan Am Games Qualification Tournament in Brazil.

Colombia’s win assures Canada a top four finish at the seven-team qualifier event that determines the four remaining entries into the Lima 2019 baseball competition.

Canada will now play in one of two semi-final contests on Saturday that will determine Sunday’s bronze and gold medal match-ups. All playoff games are scheduled for the Yakult Baseball Complex in Ibiúna.

Rain causing unplayable field conditions at Mie Nishi Stadium in São Paulo has forced tournament organizers to shift all Group A games to the Yakult Baseball Complex leaving Canada’s final Group B game against Colombia in limbo.
