Canada to compete in Pool A in San Juan at the 2026 World Baseball Classic

OTTAWA- World Baseball Classic, Inc. (WBCI) announced the dates, venues, and pools for the sixth installment of the World Baseball Classic that will take place from March 5-17, 2026.
Canada will be in Pool A in San Juan, Puerto Rico along with host Puerto Rico, Cuba, Panama and to be determined Qualifier team with games taking place at Hiram Bithorn Stadium from March 6-11.
Pool B will take place in Houston with Pools C and D taking pace in Tokyo and Miami, respectively.
Canada will open play against the Qualifier team on March 7th before taking on Panama on March 8th, Puerto Rico on March 10th before closing out the pool play on March 11th against Cuba.
The Pool A winner and runner-up will advance to single elimination, quarterfinal games against the Pool B winner and runner-up on March 13 and 14. Pool B features USA, Mexico, Italy, Great Britain and a Qualifier team.
The semi-finals and finals will take place at loanDepot Park in Miami from March 15-17.
Canada holds a 5-9 record all-time over five World Baseball Classic events with wins over South Africa (’06), the United States (’06), Mexico (’13), Great Britain (’23) and Colombia (’23) while suffering losses to Columbia (’17), the Dominican Republic (’17), Mexico (’06, ’23), the United States (’09, ’13, ’17, ‘23) and Italy (’09 & ’13).
Canada will be looking to advance past pool play in San Juan for the first time in WBC history.
