The Canadian Baseball History Conference scheduled for November has been cancelled.

The annual event is the latest casualty of the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The coronavirus pandemic continues to put large gatherings at risk, and the consequent closure of public facilities has made it more difficult for presenters to complete their research projects,” said the event’s founder and organizer, Andrew North, in a statement.

This year’s event would’ve been the fifth annual get-together of Canadian baseball historians, researchers and fans. The first two events were held in St. Marys, Ont., home of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, while the last two have taken place in London, Ont.

The conference generally features around 20 presentations that cover a wide variety of Canadian baseball history topics.

“All potential presenters are encouraged to continue when possible, and consider speaking next fall instead,” said North.

The 2021 conference is tentatively scheduled for late October or early November of 2021, possibly in downtown Toronto.
