For the second straight week, a Canadian pitcher made two starts and helped his team to a pair of wins.

Last week, it was the University of British Columbia right-hander Ryan Beitel (Surrey, BC), this time around it was righty Ben Abram (Georgetown, Ont.) of the No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Abram took the mound in the Cowboys’ midweek contest against Dallas Baptist and threw three scoreless, hitless innings in a 20-4 victory. He struck out six of the nine outs he recorded to pick up his second win of the season.

He was back on the mound in Game 2 of their weekend series at No. 22 Texas Tech. In front of 4,021 fans, the former Terrier hurler worked six innings and allowed one run on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts in a 9-4 win. The effort moved Abram’s record to 3-0 and was his third win in the last 11 days.

Since transferring in the offseason from the University of Oklahoma, he has posted a 4.79 ERA in six appearances, including three starts.

Ben Abram is the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week for March 13 to 19.
