Have you ever wondered why the BMOC column comes out on Wednesday?
Well, this week’s Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week is a good example of why. Combing through boxscores takes time. Some boxscores are posted late, while others never hit the interweb. It’s all in an effort to provide the most comprehensive Canadian college coverage possible.
As I worked through Week 12, one of the last players I looked at was Trinidad State infielder Benji Sauve (Mascouche, Que.).
And am I ever glad I did.
Sauve had a huge week for the Trojans. He helped lead them to a 4-1 record by producing 12 hits, a walk, 13 RBI, and a stolen base. The former Academie du Baseball Canada standout left the yard three times: once in a 13-2 win over the Adams State JV’s, and twice more in a 10-1 series opening victory over Lamar.
Those numbers are no fluke either. Sauve owns a .408 average over 45 games. The Trojans have put together a 32-13 record so far.
All this to say that Benji Sauve is the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week for April 4-10.
