The University of Mary has found tremendous success recruiting north of the border.
Currently, the Marauders have 21, yes 21, Canadians on their roster.
One of their latest recruits is freshman outfielder Carter Beck (Carnduff, Sask.), who’s made an immediate impact in the heart of their lineup.
Beck continued his strong play in a four-game series against Concordia University, St. Paul last week.
In a high scoring 16-15 Game 1 win, he went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run and a solo home run.
As an encore, he had two hits, including a three-run home run, and four RBIs in a 7-2 Game 2 victory.
After stroking a hit, walking and stealing a base during a 13-2 Game 3 win, Beck collected two hits as the Marauders dropped their only game of the series, 13-12, in the finale. One of his two knocks was a solo shot, giving him four homers on the week.
Beck leads the Marauders in average (.452), home runs (9), RBIs (30) and OPS (1.550) among qualified hitters who have at least two plate appearances per game and have played 75 per cent of their team’s games.
Carter Beck is the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week for March 11 to 17.
