It was a big week for Sullivan County Generals outfielder/left-handed pitcher Layton Cuvilier (Hantsport, N.S.).

Cuvilier’s .330 batting average helped land him on the All-Region XV Second Team as an outfielder. He carried the momentum from that honour into his team’s games last week, but this time he used his arm and his bat to make a difference.

The freshman made his first appearance on the mound in a 7-2 win over Ulster to open the Region XV Tournament. He spun 1 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed a hit and a walk, while striking out one. The next game against Rockland he made the start and threw 7 2/3 innings. He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits as the Generals won the game 4-2.

As if that wasn’t enough, he also produced six hits, walked once, drove in one and stole a base in five games over the seven-day stretch.

For his efforts, he has been recognized on the Region XV All-Tournament Team and has been named the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week for May 2 to May 8.
