The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds are rolling.
Winners of five straight regular season games heading into last weekend’s slate, the Thunderbirds promptly swept Bushnell to run their win streak to nine.
The offence put up 39 runs in the four games and Mike Fitzsimmons (Chilliwack, BC) was a key contributor.
Fitzsimmons got his week started with a 2-for-4 performance in a 4-2 Game 1 win.
Two more hits, along with two RBIs followed in a 10-3 Game 2 win.
Game 3 saw him go 3-for-3 with two RBIs in an 11-0 victory.
To close it all out, he went 3-for-6 with three RBIs in a 14-4 win to secure the series sweep.
The weekend was no one off, as Fitzsimmons is hitting .349 with eight home runs, 36 RBIs and a .968 OPS on the season.
The T-Birds are now 25-15 with a pair of games at Seattle University coming up on Friday and Saturday.
