Ryan Beitel (Surrey, B.C.) made not one, but two starts for the University of British Columbia and was on top of his game in both of them.

His first start came against Oregon Tech where he threw a seven-inning complete game in a 10-0 Thunderbirds’ win. Beitel scattered four hits, walked one and struck out three to pick up his first victory of the season.

Back at it in Game 4 against Corban later in the week, he tossed five scoreless innings in a 4-1 victory to help the T-Birds take the series 3-1. The right-hander worked around four hits, a walk and punched out seven. His team plated three in the top of the seventh for the come from behind win.

For his strong performances, Beitel was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week.

He’s also the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week for March 6 to 12.
