Saying Butte College’s Ryan McCarthy (Delta, BC) is off to a good start to the 2023 campaign would be selling his performance a bit short.
In fact, it’d be a massive understatement.
Look no further than his four games last week for proof.
To start, McCarthy went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run, a walk and five RBIs as Butte drubbed Yuba 22-1.
He followed it up with a 4-for-4 game with a three-run home run, a solo shot, a walk and five more RBIs in an 11-4 Game 1 win over West Valley. Game 2 saw him collect a hit, a walk and an RBI in a 10-2 win, before going 3-for-5 with a solo home run in a 9-8, Game 3 victory to help the Roadrunners to not only a sweep of the series, but of the week.
The four wins moves their record to 8-2.
On the season, McCarthy is slashing .550/.654/1.350 with five home runs and 14 RBIs.
With the week that he had, it should come as no surprise that Ryan McCarthy is the Canadian Baseball Network College Player of the Week for Feb. 6 to 12.
