WOMEN IN BASEBALL WEEK: Meet the Stars in Aberdeen
Marina DeAngelis (Delta, B.C.) joined the Aberdeen University Baseball Club this past winter after moving to Aberdeen to finish her masters in Kinesiology at RGU.
Marina has grown up playing baseball and softball in Canada making her a truly wonderful addition and a formidable talent in Aberdeen Baseball. As an undergraduate at Simon Fraser University, she competed at the NCAA Division II level on the SFU team.
Marina, an outstanding middle infielder, is currently playing for the Aberdeen Express in the Scottish National League. Beside contributing with her fielding and hitting skills (.292 batting average), she has reached some remarkable achievements: She became the first woman in Scottish Baseball to ever record a win as a starting pitcher.
Marina has much to be proud of; as back home in Canada, she started an instructional baseball league for girls and here in Aberdeen has given even more of her time to help, support and coach the Aberdeen Youth Baseball program.
Marina is one of the many amazing women in baseball wanting to make a change in the world of sports.
