Official Vancouver Canadians News Release

Hillsboro, OR – The Vancouver Canadians dropped their fifth consecutive game against the Everett AquaSox (Mariners) Thursday night after an 8-2 loss at Ron Tonkin Field.

The Frogs led for the duration. They scored two in the second, one in the third, single runs in the sixth and seventh and three in the ninth to win their league-best 45th game of the year.

A pair of RBI singles were all the Canadians could muster. Ronny Brito singled and Rafael Lantigua worked a two-out walk in the third to set the table for Tanner Morris, who singled home Brito make it 3-1 AquaSox for his fifth RBI of the series. Will Robertson – MLB.com’s No. 21 Blue Jays prospect who was activated from the Injured List today after over two months out of action – cashed in with a two-out run-scoring base hit in the seventh that brought the C’s within three, though the three-run ninth for Everett put the game well out of reach as the AquaSox won handily, 8-2.

On the mound, Hagen Danner – who also returned to the active roster after seven weeks on the shelf with an injury – was the only Canadians pitcher to not allow a run. CJ Van Eyk (L, 2-5) went five innings and allowed three runs on four hits with three walks and matched a career high with nine strikeouts but was outdueled by AquaSox starter Levi Stoudt (W, 6-1).

Morris paced the offence with his third consecutive multi-hit game to raise his average to a team-best .284. He was the only C’s hitter to reach base more than once.

Vancouver and Everett match up again on Friday night. Right-hander Adam Kloffenstein goes for the C’s while righty Tim Elliott gets the nod for the ‘Sox. Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
