Zane Pollon wasn’t perfect with the Mesa Community College Thunderbirds.
But his record was.
Freshman LHP Pollon (Wilcox, Sask.) was 2-0 with one save in 12 games. He had a win pitching two scoreless in a 9-4 win over Thompson River as he allowed one unearned run. He walked one and struck out three.
And he scored his second win as in a 5-2 win against Western Nebraska with a scoreless inning, allowing one hit.
Pollon recorded his save in a 10-8 win against Eastern Arizona, retiring the only man he faced.
Pollon had a 6.17 ERA with six walks and 13 strikeouts in 11 2/3 innings.
As the Thunderbirds went 43-23 under assistant coach Dave Robb (Lac Le Biche, Alta.), OF Brian So (Regina, Sask.) hit .284 in 38 games with four doubles, a triple, a homer, 20 RBIs and a .730 OPS.
OF Greg Student (Sexsmith, Alta.) batted .264 with a double, a triple, nine RBIs and a .668 OPS in 42 games.
C Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sask.) batted .125 with two doubles and nine RBIs in 31 games with a .531 OPS in 31 games.
