Okotoks Dawgs

Both their pitching staff and their offence excelled in the Okotoks Dawgs’ 12-1 win over the Swift Current 57’s on Thursday.

Dawgs pitchers struck out 16, while their batters collected 12 hits.

The victory was the 10th straight for the Dawgs, who sit in first place in the WCBL standings with a 20-5 record.

Dawgs DH Alejandro Cazorla (Okotoks, Alta.) belted his second home run of the season in the third inning, which also included a three-run blast from Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.). Crowson finished the game 3-for-4 with four RBIs.

Ricky Sanchez added two hits and two RBIs for the Dawgs, while Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alta.) doubled to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.

On the mound, Logan Rumburg (Okotoks, Alta.) started and fanned 10 batters in four scoreless innings.

The Dawgs will wrap up their series with Swift Current on Friday at Seaman Stadium.

The Dawgs will then welcome the Brooks Bombers to Seaman Stadium on Saturday for Canada Day.
