Cazorla, Geekie, Luther, Tocheniuk propel Dawgs to win over Bulls

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Lethbridge Bulls on Tuesday night by a score of 12-5.

The game was very close in the first half before a six-run seventh inning saw the Dawgs take a commanding lead and earn the victory in Lethbridge.

The Dawgs extended their winning streak to three games and now own a record of 36-12.

Bobby Vath started on the mound and tossed three innings allowing three earned and three strikeouts. Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.) made an appearance on the mound and had three strikeouts. Quinn Tocheniuk (Okotoks, Alta.) earned the win, while Seth Thompson (Calgary, Alta.) Rylan Penner (Blumenort, Man.) and Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) shut down the Bulls bats as they failed to come back in the game.

Ricky Sanchez blew this game open in the seventh inning, blasting a three-run homer which gave the Dawgs a commanding 11-5 lead. Sanchez finished the game 2-for-5 with three RBIs.

Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.) came in off the bench and made an impact going 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Jacob Morrow, Ruben Cedillo and Alejandro Cazorla (Okotoks, Alta.) all had multi-hit games, with Cazorla adding two RBIs.

The Dawgs will have two days off before returning home to Seaman Stadium on July 29 to kick off a four-game homestand.
