Cazorla, Luther, Tymochko, Zdunich led Dawgs to win

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Edmonton Prospects 6-3 on Saturday night to earn their 19th victory of the season.

Sound defence, offensive awareness and efforts from the bullpen were key in the Dawgs earning the win in a game that could've gone either way. The Dawgs remain atop the west division with a record of 19-5.

Julian Tymochko (Etobicoke, Ont.) threw four innings, allowed two hits and earned the win, improving to 4-1 on the season.

Relief efforts from Quinn Tocheniuk (Okotoks, Alta.), Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.), Cade Hermann and David Case backed upn Tymochko’s performance. Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) sealed the victory in the ninth, striking out two to end the game.

The Dawgs’ offence was led by Alejandro Cazorla (Okotoks, Alta.) who had a multi-hit game and Tucker Zdunich (High River, Alta.). Both outfielders finished the game with two RBIs. Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.) extended his hitting streak to three games and finished with three runs.

The Dawgs will host the Edmonton Prospects on Sunday afternoon for the final game at Seaman Stadium before the Dawgs embark on a two-game road trip before returning home for the Dawgs’ annual Canada Day home stand.
