First baseman Matt Lloyd had at least one hit in each of his five games for the triple-A Memphis Redbirds last week.
In total, between April 22 and April 27, the Okotoks, Alta., native went 8-for-17 (.471 batting average) with a double, four runs and six RBIs.
For his efforts, he has been named the Canadian Baseball Network’s minor league Player of the Week.
Lloyd started the week with three hits - including a two-run double - to help the Redbirds to an 8-3 win over the Norfolk Tide on Tuesday and then followed that up with singles on Thursday and Friday.
He added two more hits and an RBI in the Redbirds’ 5-4 win over the Tide on Saturday before contributing a hit and two walks in yesterday’s series finale.
In all, in 16 games in triple-A this season, Lloyd owns a .319/.444/.431 slash line. He has 16 hits - including four doubles - to go with 12 walks and eight runs.
