Noah Skirrow bounced around as a high schooler.
The right-hander pitched for -- in no particular order -- the Hamilton Cardinals, Ontario Blue Jays, DBacks Langley Blaze, Great Lake Canadians and the Tri-State Arsenal, before heading off to pitch for the Liberty University Flames.
Skirrow (Stoney Creek, Ont.) was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Phillies for the set fee of $20,000 US ... yet as Justin Morneau always said “you don’t make life-changing money when you are drafted ... get out and get into the system.”
This week, Skirrow pitched five scoreless for the double-A Reading Fightin’ Phils, while allowing one hit.
That outing earned Skirrow Canadian Baseball Network Player of the Week honours for Week VIII, , as the best of the 115 Canucks.
He gained his third win as Reading thumped the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 11-2 in front of 9,528 fans at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Skirrow left with a 6-0 lead in the sixth, throwing 70 pitches (47 for strikes, 67% strikes). He allowed a double to Jeremy Vazques in the third inning and issued back-to-back walks in the fourth
The former Cardinal, Blue Jay, Blaze, Canadian, Arsenal and Flame had seven ground ball outs and six strikeouts.
