So, why not five hits in Adam Hall’s first game of the week?

Hall (London, Ont.) went 5-for-6 with a double and two RBIs as the Delmarva Shorebirds thumped the Asheville Tourists 15-7.

The former Great Lake Canadian and London Badger had 10 hits in the seven-day period to earn Canadian Baseball Network minor league player of the week for Week IV. He was the best of the 53 Canadians in the minors.

How the week that was for Hall as he ...

_ Batting second and playing shortstop, he started off with his five-hit game against Ashville before 2,533 fans at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Hall singled to the right in the first and stole second, his seventh; singled to right and scored leading off the third; hit a two-run single to left in the 10-run third; singled to centre leading off the seventh and doubled to left field in the seventh.

_ Playing second and hitting third, Hall was 2-for-3 in a 4-3 win against the Augusta GreenJackets in front of 1,201 fans at Delmarva. Hall had a run-scoring single to centre in the first and led off the fourth with an infield single and scored.

_ Batting third and playing second, he doubled and was 1-for-3 in a 5-1 victory against Augusta in the first game of the doubleheader. He doubled to centre, his fifth, in the fifth inning.

_ Playing shortstop and hitting lead off he was hitless in a 6-3 loss to Augusta in front of 4,974 at Delmarva in the nitecap of the doubleheader.

_ Hitting second and playing shortstop he was hitless in a 3-0 loss to Augusta.

_ And leading off and playing short he was 2-for-4 in a 6-3 win against the Columbia Fireflies before 2,699 at Segra Park. Hall singled to right in the third and was caught stealing and then homered to left, his first of the season.

He hit .455 (10-for-22) for the week with a homer and five RBIs.

Recently optioned back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley by the Philadelphia Phillies, Nick Pivetta is demonstrating quite clearly, that he wants to be recalled to the big league roster as quickly as possible. This week he had an excellent start for the Iron Pigs on April 28th in a 6-5 win over the Buffalo Bisons. He pitched six innings giving up three base hits and one earned run while striking out 14 Buffalo hitters, but was not involved in the decision. In two appearances with the Iron Pigs, he record now stands at 1-0 with a 3.75 ERA.

Curtis Taylor is currently active in his fourth season as a pro player and the 24 year old native of Port Coquitlam, BC is showing signs that he’s becoming a solid bullpen asset within the Tampa Bay Rays minor league system. This week he had two very good relief appearances for the Biscuits, the first of which was on April 26th in a 3-2 win over Birmingham Barons when he pitched 1 1/3 scoreless without allowing a hits and while striking out three Barons, but was not involved in the decision. On April 29th in another 3-2 win over Birmingham, he threw two scoreless innings without allowing a hit while striking out four Birmingham hitters to earn his first save of the season. His overall record in the Double A Southern League after five relief appearances is now 0-1, with one save and a 1.50 ERA.
