OTTAWA, Ont. – Baseball Canada’s busiest weekend of the summer came to an end with the culmination of the 13U, 16U Girls, Ray Carter Cup (15U) and Men’s National Championships.

16U Girls Championship

In Summerside, P.E.I., Québec captured their second gold medal in as many years in the competition.

Team Québec defeated Ontario 10-4 in dominant fashion with eight out of the nine players reaching safely at least once in the ballgame.

The offensive outburst was backed by a strong combined outing from the pitching staff who limited Ontario to four runs, despite giving up eight hits in the game.

Earlier in the day, Alberta conquered Newfoundland and Labrador 8-3 to capture the bronze in the competition for the second year in a row.

Ray Carter Cup (15U)

In Laval, Québec, British Columbia secured the gold medal beating Québec 7-2 in the Championship game.

Jack Bello led the offence for Team BC with a 2-for-3 performance, including an RBI and a couple of runs scored.

Lucas St-Laurent and Drazic Charbonneau collected the only two RBIs for Québec late in the ballgame.

In the bronze medal game, Québec (Host) won big against Alberta 12-2. This victory would secure the second medal for Québec in the competition.

Men’s National Championship

In Red Deer, Alberta, Québec pulled off back-to-back walk-off wins to secure the gold in the competition.

Québec defeated Saskatchewan 6-5 in the championship game thanks to a Raphael Gladu game-winning home run in the bottom of the seventh.

Saskatchewan was close to pulling off a comeback, scoring four runs in the top of the sixth capped by a Kendall Keller RBI single to tie the game at five.

The bronze medal game featured an exciting duel between pitching staffs with Manitoba walking off Nova Scotia 2-1.

13U National Championship

In Woodstock, Ontario, Québec guaranteed themselves gold and silver at the 13U Nationals with both of their teams advancing to the Championship game.

Québec 2 came out on top 6-5 in a back-and-forth ballgame to capture the gold, while their counterpart Québec 1 slid into the second spot with the silver.

Arnold Ohanian powered Québec 2’s offensive effort with a 3-for-4 performance, including home run, a pair of RBIs, and two runs scored.

Eimel Segura-Feliz worked some magic out of the bullpen, permitting only one hit in 5 1/3 innings while striking out nine.

In the bronze medal game, British Columbia defeated Ontario by a landslide 19-7. B.C. captured their first medal at the 13U Nationals since winning silver in the 2014 edition hosted in Altona, Manitoba.
