Former Victoria Eagle and Cal State Fullerton Titans pitcher Fynn Chester tossed a complete game three-hitter in a 3-0 victory as the Titans defeated their Big West Conference rival Long Beach State Dirtbags.
Chester (Victoria, BC) gave up two hits in the first inning, the second an infield single, and then sat down 23 consecutive Dirtbag batters. He forced Long State hitters to earn their way on the base paths, handing out zero free passes.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Dirtbags eked out their third single, but Fynn induced a ground ball double play to end the game. An incredible 21 of the game’s 27 putouts were made by Titan infielders.
After the game, the Victoria right-hander attributed his success to his Titans teammates saying: “The real story today was the team defence which made a lot of big plays to keep me in the game.”

Chester has had three starts since moving into the Titans’ starting rotation and is 2-1 on the year with an impressive 2.47 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He has allowed two runs in 17 innings.
