Official Baseball BC Press Release

On June 22, 2020, Chris Balison was acclaimed the new president of Baseball BC.

He succeeds longtime president John Berry, who is stepping away from baseball after decades of service.

Berry leaves behind a long legacy in youth sports administration. On top of his 13 years as president, he served the sport of baseball for over 30 years as a coach and in various leadership roles within local sports associations and provincial bodies (BC Junior Baseball and the BCBUA).

Berry worked tirelessly to build consensus and was instrumental in refocusing Baseball BC to obtain membership and participation by all youth leagues in the Province.

“John’s contributions to our sport, and youth sports generally, were done with steadfast conviction,“ said current President Chris Balison.

With the return to sport in the early stages, Balison and Baseball BC have significant challenges ahead. Baseball BC is currently in Phase 2 of its Return to Play, which allows organizations back on the field to train in small groups, while also maintaining physical distance.

“I see opportunity to improve the delivery sports, especially at the youth level. Our member organizations are innovators when it comes to sport delivery, and we are all committed to a safe return to play that is responsive to our participants and their families,” said Balison.
