Clavet homers, Juniors drop pair at Dominican Fall camp

The Junior National Team lost 5-1 to the Boston Red Sox DR team to start off the last double-header of the Dominican Fall Instructional League Camp.
The Canadians scored just one run despite collecting eight hits.
On the mound, Ryan Press (Toronto, Ont.) started for the Juniors and gave up three runs, only one of them was earned, on five hits, while striking out four, in 2 2/3 innings.
The Juniors scored their run in the top half of the third inning after a leadoff triple by Quinn Carson (Oakville, Ont.).
Right-hander Michael Yusypchuk (Edmonton, Alta.) provided the Canadians with four solid innings out of the bullpen, allowing only one run on eight hits while striking out six.
At the plate, Maxime Boies (Levis, Que.) was 2-for-3, picking up the juniors’ only RBI.
Game 2
The Junior National Team fell to the Texas Rangers DR squad 9-5 in the second game of the doubleheader.
The Canadians got the scoring started thanks to an Anthony Clavet (Quebec, Que.) two-run homer that gave the Juniors an early 2-0 lead.
But the Rangers would respond with runs in the first four innings.
Left-hander Sean Duncan (Langley, BC) had a strong outing for the Juniors in relief, giving up three earned runs on eight hits while punching out five.
Dante Smith (Ajax, Ont.) smashed an RBI triple in the top of the ninth. He finished the game with two and a stolen base.
