COBA Major League Tentative Schedule

By Dan Estey

The Central Ontario Baseball Association Major League and it’s executive have released the regular season schedule for the 2020 season. As per the Baseball Canada & Baseball Ontario directives, we are “on hold” until April 30. With the COVID-19 situation still being very fluid and changing on a daily basis the league also released the following information with this release:

The following scenarios have been put in place by the league executive:

1) Regular start to the season on May 3rd, 2020. The executive is aware that the chances of starting the schedule in May is slim but it hasn’t been officially been thrown away yet.

If the league cannot start on May 3rd, the following two scenarios have been put in place.

2) June 1st Start Date and it would be reduced to a 21 game regular season schedule. The executive is currently working on a schedule.

3) July 1st Start Date and it would be reduced to a 14 game regular season schedule. The executives currently working on a schedule.

During these unprecedented times you can imagine how many moving parts that have to come together for us to give a clear indication when we’ll be able to start. Nobody knows. But what I can say the league has a sound plan in place to be organized once the go ahead from government officials is announced we can begin to congregate again.

As more information becomes available, it will be posted here on the site as well as on our league twitter feed (@COBABaseball). To all of our players, coaches, fans and followers please stay safe and healthy during these difficult times!!
