COBA Major's best from Week XIV: Hyde, Milton Red Sox, Rizquez

The COBA Major League Player and Pitcher of the Week, as well as Team of the Week for XIV …


The COBA Major Zero K Bats Player of the Week is Anthony Rizquez of the Burlington Brants.

This is the second weekly award for Rizquez this year. For his week, he played three games, batting .727 (8-for-11) with a home run and six doubles. He walked twice, while scoring seven runs and collecting eight RBIs.

For the regular season, Rizquez is now hitting at a .400 clip (30-for-75). He has 14 doubles, a triple and four home runs among his hits. He has scored 26 runs and collected 28 RBIs.

Etobicoke Rangers Andrew Hyde

The COBA Major Sam Bat Pitcher of the week is Andrew Hyde of the Etobicoke Rangers.

The veteran hurler takes down this honour for the third time this season. In his only appearance this week, he collected the win as he tossed five scoreless innings, allowing five hits. He walked one, while striking out four.

Hyde now sports a 5-1 record on the year. He has thrown 41 innings and allowed 19 runs (10 earned) on 38 hits for a solid 2.20 ERA. He has walked only seven batters while striking out 45.

The COBA Major Zinger Bats Team of the Week for the second week in a row are the Milton Red Sox.

The Red Sox had three games this week and they went 3-0 on the week. They started the week with a 19-4 win over the Oakville A’s on Wednesday and followed that up with a DH sweep on Saturday with wins over the Brampton Royals (17-4) and Erindale Cardinals (13-3)

With the wins, Milton now sits at 13-9-1 on the season, good for 27 points and are currently in second place overall in the COBA Major standings.
