COBA Major

After a good run in London at the Lakeside Tournament which resulted in a semi-final showing, the Milton Red Sox had a light schedule this past week in COBA Major League play.

Their sole game was on the road as they made the trek to Dave Dash Memorial Field and a date with the Brampton Royals.

The visitors didn’t waste time as they pushed across a pair of runs in the first inning. The Royals answered back with a run in the bottom half for a 2-1 lead. After a scoreless second, the Red Sox got the sticks rolling in the third inning as they plated six runs for an 8-1 lead.

They didn’t stop there as they scored two more in the fifth followed by another four in the sixth to put this game out of reach. Brampton showed some life in the bottom half of the sixth plating a run but Milton snuffed any ideas of a comeback scoring five more runs in the top of the seventh, leading to a 19-2 final score for the Red Sox.

Nick Tiensovan led the way for the Sox going 3-for-6 with three doubles and an RBI. Liam Buckley was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs while Nicholas Feren was also 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Matthew Correira was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Justin Cruz was also 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Veteran Kevin Greer was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Eric Beharri was 1-for-5 with two RBIs while Sean Alp wrapped up the Milton offence, going 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Jayden Jeminson led the Royals’ offence going 2-for-2 with two doubles and a stolen base. Marco DiRoma and CJ Fearon had the other hits for Brampton.

Dylan Clark was the beneficiary of the Milton offence collecting the win. He went six innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He walked three batters and struck out five. For his efforts, he was named the COBA Major League Sam Bat Pitcher of the Week. Joe Giansante tossed a scoreless seventh, allowing a hit, walking two and striking out three. Yannick Rickli started and took the loss for the Royals.
