COBA Week V - Reagan homers for Oakville in win over Twins

COBA Major Week V

By Dan Estey

The Oakville A’s had a light week in league play as the weather played a bit of a factor again postponing some games. They managed to get one game in though as they defeated the Mississauga Southwest Twins 5-3 at Oakville Park.

After having their game on the road rained out against the Burlington Brants, the A’s got things rolling early as they put up a run in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. Mississauga SW answered back in the top of the third, as they tied the game up 1-1. Oakville took the lead back in the fourth when they plated a pair of runs to take a 3-1 lead.

The Twins cut into the lead again in the sixth with a single run but Oakville tacked on another pair of runs in the eighth to take a 5-2 lead to the last inning. Mississauga managed a bit of a rally in the ninth but could only muster up a single run leading to the 5-3 victory for Oakville.

Oakville belted out eight hits in the victory and were led by Thomas Biskup who was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and an RBI. Matt Reagan was 1-for-3 with a home run while Hamza Patel collected the other RBI for the A’s with a sac fly. Vic Christiansen, Marc Walton, Cam Cook, Alex Fulton, and Brendan Callaghan all had hits in the victory as well.

On the mound the A’s got a complete game effort from Alex Hawley in collecting the victory. The veteran righty went the distance holding the Twins to three runs (one earned) on nine hits. He walked only one batter while striking out seven.
