After having their first game of the week rained out in Milton, the Rangers got their season off and rolling as they won their season and home opener 10-5 over the Brampton Royals.

The Rangers had a full team effort in this one as they collected 15 hits in the victory. They were led by rookie Liam Sutherland at the dish. He had a very impressive league debut as he went 4-for-6 with four singles. He also added a stolen base while scoring two run and collecting four RBIs. Ryan Panas was 1-for-3 with a single, a pair of walks, a run and two RBIs.

Lefty Brad Crone drew the start in this one on the hill and was impressive as he went two innings allowing no runs on three hits. He walked one while striking out two. Andrew Hyde collected the win in relief of Crone as he went three innings allowing one run (unearned) on no hits. He walked three batters while striking out four. Kyle Angelow threw a pair of innings allowing no runs on a hit while striking out a pair and allowing a walk. Mike Asta, who was touched up for three runs, and Tyler Whealy who had a clean outing each tossed an inning for the Rangers as well.

With his effort at the dish, Sutherland collected the Week III Zero K Bats Player of the Week honors.

The Sam Bat Pitcher of the Week was Mike Burke of the Brampton Royals. The veteran lefty had an impressive first outing of the year as he went four innings allowing no runs and only one hit against the Oakville A’s. He walked a batter while collecting six strikeouts.
