COBA's Best: Alp, Brants, Lucas

Milton Red Sox INF Sean Alp crammed a month of hits into one week going 10-for-13 with three doubles and four RBIs to earn Player of the Week honours.

The COBA Major Zero K Bats Player of the Week: Sean Alp of the Milton Red Sox.

This is the first weekly award for the young SS this year. For his week, he played four games batting .769 (10-for-13) with three doubles and three walks. He scored seven runs, collected four RBIs and had two stolen bases.

For the season, Alp is now hitting at a .667 clip (14-for-21) over the club’s first six games. He has four doubles, while plating nine runs and driving in seven RBIs. He also has seven walks, a HBP and three stolen bases.

Corey Morrison (Burlington): 3G, 4-for-9 (.444), 3B, 3 Walks, 4 Runs, 6 RBI

Aaron Palmer (Erindale): 3G, 5-for-11 (.455), 2B, 2 Walks, 4 Runs, 5 RBI, 2 SB

Patrick Pinlac (Brampton): 2G, 7-for-9 (.778), 3 2B, 3B, 3 R, 3 RBIs.

The COBA Major Sam Bat Pitcher of the week Kevin Lucas, Erindale Cardinals.

The veteran hurler takes this honour for the first time this season. In his only appearance this week, he collected the win as he tossed six innings, allowing one run on just five hits. He walked one while striking out one as well.

On the season, Lucas is now 2-0 and tied for the league lead in wins. He has thrown nine innings and allowed one run (earned) on seven hits for a 1.00 ERA. He has walked only two batters while striking out three and has two HBPs.

The COBA Major Zingers Bats Team of the Week are the Burlington Brants.

The Brants had three games this week as they collected a pair of wins and a loss. They defeated the Oakville A’s 13-2 at home before splitting a twin bill on the road in Milton dropping the first game 4-3 before taking the back half by a score of 11 -2.

With the wins, Burlington now sits at 2-2 on the season good for four points overall and are currently in second place in the Johnson Division of the COBA Major Baseball League standings.
