The COBA Major League Week VII POWs and Team of the Week:

COBA Major Player of the Week - Dan Franceschetti

The Zero K Bats Player of the Week is Franceschetti of the Etobicoke Rangers. This is the second weekly award for Franceschetti om 2023. For his week, he played two games batting .444 (4-for-9) with a home run and two doubles. He scored four runs and collected six RBIs.

COBA Major Pitcher of the Week - Seamus McGenere

The Sam Bat Pitcher of the week is McGenere of the Rangers. This is the first weekly award for the young Etobicoke hurler this season. In his only appearance this week, he collected a win as he tossed five innings allowing one run on four hits. He walked three while striking out four.

COBA Major Team of the Week - Etobicoke Rangers

The Hard Bat Company Team of the Week for Week VII of the season are the Etobicoke Rangers. The Rangers had two games going 2-0 for the week. They won their first game on the road defeating the Erindale Cardinals 13-6 and followed that with another road win this time in Oakville by a score of 16-4. They now sit with an overall record of 12-0 and top spot overall in the COBA Major Baseball League.

Burlington Brants: 2-0 (W 7-4 @ Brampton; W 18-8 vs Milton)

Overall, it was a pretty quiet week as teams are getting geared up for the Lakeside Invitational tournament in London. In what was the closest game of the week, the Brampton Royals dropped a tight affair to the Brants by a score of 7-4.

Burlington got on the board first plating a run in the third. They would add to their lead in the middle frames adding a run in the fourth followed by two more runs in the fifth for a 4-0 lead. They tacked on three more in the seventh to extend the lead to 7-0.

The resilient Royals would get on the board in the seventh as they plated three runs to cut the Brants lead to 7-3. They scored again in the ninth and were threatening for more but couldn’t push anymore runs across losing this one by a score of 7-4

Big Joe Ferreira led the offence for Brampton going 1-for-3 with a double while Brad McLaughlin was 1-for-2. Logan Janes was also 1-for-2, while Alex Fascia was 1-for-1. CJ Fearon wrapped up the Royals offense with a pair of RBIs.

Mike Westlake led the Brants at the dish going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two stolen bases while Bill Reaume was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI.

With the London tournament on the horizon, seven arms took the mound for Brampton. Cameron Hibbs took the loss going one inning allowing one run on two hits while walking one and striking out one. Luke Connor grabbed the win for Burlington going 6 1/3 inning allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits. He walked five and struck out six.
