Northeastern Junior College head coach Andrew Kachel has been busy north of the border signing his second Ontario Terrier.

Catcher/1B Josh Cote (Midland, Ont.) recently announced his commitment to the Plainsmen. He'll join teammate Keegan O'Hearn, who announced he would be attending Northeastern just a few days prior, in Sterling, Colo.

The school has everything that Cote is looking for at the next level, which made the decision to sign an easy one.

"Coach Kachel is a former catcher and I think he'll really help me develop at the position," Cote said. "The baseball program is one that will help me move on to a four-year school thanks to their good academic transfer pathway. I also feel that I will have a good chance to compete for a starting spot right away."

Dean Dicenzo, manager of the Terriers 18U squad, thinks Cote will fit in just fine in college.

"He's a big, strong, physical kid that can drive the ball with power to all fields," he said. "He's made a lot of progress behind the plate and has fit in naturally at first base, giving him two options defensively."

Cote points to the strong schedule the Terriers play, both in the Canadian Premier Baseball League and south of the border, as one reason he's been able to get to this point in his career. With the next stop on his baseball journey now decided, the young backstop has clear goals for when he arrives on campus.

"When I get to Colorado I want to become the starting catcher," he said. "I want to improve my overall game and eventually transfer to a four-year school."
