Dane Tofteland Earns MVC Player of the Week Honors

ST. LOUIS – Indiana State redshirt sophomore Dane Tofteland has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the League office announced Monday. It marks the first Player of the Week accolade for Tofteland and the third MVC weekly honor for the Sycamores this season.
Tofteland, a Grande Prairie, Alberta native is coming off his second-straight week with three home runs after hitting three during the Sycamores’ series sweep of Bradley this past weekend. In the series, Tofteland hit .583 with five of his seven base hits going for extra-bases. He hit a pair of home runs in the Sycamores game two comeback against the Braves. His two-run shot in the seventh inning tied the game before Clay Dungan hit a two-run blast to put the Sycamores on top for good just three batters later.
He collected 18 total bases in the three games, scored five runs while driving in six Sycamores en route to a 1.500 slugging percentage.
Tofteland is coming off a breakout week in which his collected a single-game school record 11 RBIs against Northern Illinois when he had three home runs, including two grand slams in the win. Six homers in eight games will grab people's atttention.
The Sycamores return to action this weekend when the team travels to Illinois State for a three-game set with the Redbirds.
