Geekie, Luther, Seltzer propel Dawgs past Prospects

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Edmonton Prospects 9-3 on Tuesday night to improve to 15-4 on the season.
The Dawgs’ offence had a major ninth inning that secured the victory along with relief pitching that shut down the Prospects.
Graham Seltzer (Vancouver, B.C.) started the game and had a solid performance, pitching 4 2/3 innings and finishing with three strikeouts. Quinn Tocheniuk (Okotoks, Alta.) came in in relief and earned his first win of the season.
Relief efforts from Rylan Penner, Zach Robinson (Kamloops, B.C.) and Connor Robbins were also key in the Dawgs’ blowout victory.
The Dawgs’ offence exploded in the ninth inning scoring five runs to put the game out of reach. Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.) extended his hitting streak to 10 games after going 2-for-5 and added one RBI. Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.) finished with one hit and two RBIs. Ricky Sanchez had a multi-hit game and added one RBI. Alejandro Cazorla (Calgary, Alta.) and Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sask.) also contributed with one hit and one RBI each which was enough to power the Dawgs past the Prospects.
The Dawgs will return to Seaman Stadium for a three-game homestand that begins Wednesday night when they take on the Fort McMurray Giants.
