The Okotoks Dawgs improved to 2-0 in the new WCBL season as they beat the Brooks Bombers by a score of 12-4 in Brooks on Saturday night.

The Dawgs’ offence came alive in the second and seventh innings where they put up a combined eight runs to take a lead that Brooks couldn’t overcome.

The Dawgs’ bats stayed hot after Friday's 16-6 victory as efforts from Elijha Hammill (Oakville, Ont.) and Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.) sparked the high-flying offence. Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) contributed by launching the first home run of the Dawgs' season. Geekie would also belt his first home run of the season and finish with three RBIs. Hammill went 2-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs.

Aidan Rose (Calgary, Alta.) also had a solid outing for the Dawgs, finishing 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI.

Garrett Maloney started for the Dawgs and tossed three innings and recorded five strikeouts. The Dawgs went deep into their bullpen, deploying eight relief pitchers after Maloney.

The Dawgs return home to Seaman Stadium on Sunday to host the Lethbridge Bulls at 2:05 p.m.
